Education & Academic Honours

Honoured with the Prime Minister’s Award for Academic Excellence as a Top National CAPE Scholar

It was my distinct honor to receive the Prime Minister’s Award for being ranked among the nation’s top performers in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE). This prestigious recognition not only acknowledged my academic achievements at the highest level but also validated the dedication, perseverance, and intellectual passion I had cultivated over years of study.

This accomplishment has served as both an affirmation of my scientific aptitude and a catalyst for my professional aspirations. It has strengthened my resolve to pursue scientific research while reinforcing my commitment to leveraging education as a tool for national progress. The recognition has inspired me to contribute meaningfully to St. Vincent and the Grenadines development through innovative research and the mentorship of future generations of scientists.

Serving as Valedictorian at St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College

I graduated as Valedictorian of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College and was awarded top subject prizes in both Physics and Chemistry for outstanding academic performance.

As Valedictorian, I delivered the official graduation speech, where I reflected on our collective achievements and encouraged my peers to pursue their goals with purpose and resilience. It was a great honor.

During my time at the SVGCC, I took part in the Debate Club, preparing and presenting arguments on a range of topics. I realized that winning a debate was not about having a single correct point. I needed to think through an argument from all sides, build a well-reasoned case and explain it clearly. I am still developing this skill!

Academic Excellence in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examinations

I completed the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations with a total of fifteen subjects. I sat Mathematics in Form 4 and completed fourteen additional subjects in Form 5, earning fourteen Grade 1s and one Grade 2. Some of these were extra courses I could not fit into my regular schedule, so I spent every lunchtime and many late afternoons in additional classes. Balancing this workload meant managing a full timetable, keeping pace with extra lessons, and staying focused over many months.

During this time, I discovered my passion for science. I remember one physics lab where my classmates and I spent hours rechecking every calculation and repeating each measurement, determined to find the error in our experiment. Solving it after so many attempts showed me that science is as much about patience and problem-solving as it is about finding accurate results.

Because of this experience and many similar ones, I chose to study physics, biology, and chemistry in greater depth. My CSEC journey solidified my academic identity and inspired me to further explore science.

Beginning a Journey of Excellence with National Distinction in the CPEA

I earned a distinction in the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment and ranked among the top national performers. In the months leading up to the exam, my teachers spent additional hours before and after school explaining concepts and working through past papers.

I dreaded having to go to school at 8 a.m. and leave at 5 p.m.. Those long sessions taught me the value of effort and sacrifice. That experience influenced the way I approach learning.
